Joe Barrow

For those who have not already heard, it is with much sadness that we
report the death in April of Joe Barrow. Veronica, our Vice Chairman,
knew Joe well and has written these words: Joe had been a member
of the Friends since its inception, and our Chairman for many of
those years. He gave unstintingly of his time and effort, hardly ever
missing our monthly task days and tirelessly fighting our corner
with Adur District Council. He was a familiar sight picking litter as
he walked his dog Sam (who sadly died just before Joe) and pushing
our huge mower to keep pathways cut. As a Sussex man, he truly
loved the area and in particular our bit of Downland. We will
remember him as the leading light and driving force and it is a large
part thanks to Joe that the Ring is the beautiful place it is today and
his loss will be felt by us all.
